Obama Killed Osama

Obama killed Osama

But the wars not over

Trying to live our lives

Without looking over our shoulder

Got eyes in the sky

And troops on the ground

Swearing on their heart

That freedom is found

But freedoms in the mind

Cuz even the free our bound

Stuck in poverty, miseducation and hate

Living lies of our lives

Thinking freedom equals assimilate

Talking equality and love

Walking in superiority, hate and greed

Dropping bombs on innocents from above

Expecting jubilation for death

Compromising morals for votes

Digging deeper into debt

But we still holding on to hope

“I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
– Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr

  1. Perfect selection of a quote! I too have been pondering the joyous scenes shown on the television, almost celebrations… and wonder how can one celebrate any loss of life. Great write!

  2. Wow! really up to date entry, you focussed very well on the issues the world faces today, you are so right ,killing an enemy doesn’t mean that we are free from fear and hate. That quote by MLK is so relevant today!

  3. Really loved this, Marlee–good points are made. We have a long way to go to know what true freedom is–in all aspects of the meaning.

As long as anyone anywhere is suffering tyranny and oppression, none of us can know freedom.

  4. I respect your poem so much and the truth and honesty in it. Something strange is going on and it is all in the killings of innocent people around the world.

Well written and loved the martin luther king quote
